Transition to ISO 14001:2015 (IRCA approved)

Delegates will benefit from the course by obtaining the knowledge, skills and confidence to modify their organisation’s management system with the elements common to all management system standards and specific knowledge of the proposed changes to ISO 14001 2015.

The course concludes with an exam for delegates opting for the IRCA approved course.

Our environmental training courses provide recognised qualifications, which can help you to register as an EMS Auditor or Lead EMS Auditor under the IRCA scheme.

Executive Briefing/Awareness

An introduction and awareness programme to enable delegates to understand the principles and the need for an effective environmental management system, and the impact of the new format of ISO 14001.

  • What is a management system: general principles and rationale?
  • Overview of ISO 14001:2015
  • Effort and involvement required of senior management and staff members
  • The new structure of standards: generic requirements
  • What to expect from an Environmental Management System (EMS) audit.

Internal Auditor Course

Internal audits can contribute significantly to maintaining the effectiveness of an environmental system and lead to improved performance. A well-established internal audit programme will highlight problems and enable them to be detected before they are found by an external auditor.

During this two-day course, delegates will be guided through the elements of an internal audit based on an environmental management system. They will learn the fundamentals of the new standard as well as how to plan, conduct and report on an internal audit. They will also gain the practical auditing knowledge needed to review the effectiveness of an EMS.

  • Understand the differences between the old and new versions of ISO 14001
  • Describe the purpose of an environmental management system
  • Understand the audit model
  • Undertake the role of an internal auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow-up an audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and by interpreting the updated requirements of ISO 14001
  • Conduct a ‘mock’ audit based on good process identification, sampling and questioning

Environmental Management Systems Auditor Conversion Course (IRCA approved)

This course is for trained and professional auditors, who wish to extend their auditor scope to cover EMS systems.

To be effective and to bring real benefits to organisations, the auditor needs a clear understanding of ISO 14001:2015 requirements and a good audit process. The course will deliver these aims.

The aim of this 3 day course is to help auditors of other management systems (QMS, etc) to transfer their skills to auditing EMS systems to ISO 14001. This course is a key requirement in becoming a Registered Auditor or Lead Auditor under the internationally recognised IRCA scheme.

The course follows an accelerated blended learning style with minimum lectures and maximum delegate involvement. It will give an understanding of quality system auditing, supported by case studies and workshops which develop essential auditor skills.

The programme concludes with an exam.
