1. Personal data

Gathering of personal data
 

AFNOR gathers personal data from forms, orders and registration forms, among others. Under Articles 38, 39 and 40 of the French Data Protection Act, Loi Informatique et Libertés no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 as amended in August 2004, you have the right to access, opt-out, delete and amend your personal data.

Processing of personal data
 

AFNOR uses a database containing personal data potentially relating to employees, service providers, customers, members, partners, etc. The following data are concerned:

  • company name;
  • physical/postal/Internet address;
  • telephone, fax and e-mail contact details;
  • business sector (Nomenclature d'activités françaises (NAF)/French Activities Nomenclature, Système d'Identification du Répertoire des Entreprises (SIRET)/French business directory identification system number);
  • employee details;
  • turnover;
  • first names and last names of contact persons;
  • title;
  • position;
  • working hours (employees);
  • staff representative (employees);
  • skills/certification/competencies/age (external consultants);
  • core activities (customers).

These data are gathered for the purposes of internal and/or external use or to develop AFNOR’s standardization, certification, advisory/training and/or information activities. Under Articles 38, 39 and 40 of the French Data Protection Act, Loi Informatique et Libertés no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 as amended in August 2004, you have the right to access, opt-out, delete and amend your personal data and/or prevent their transfer to third parties.

Disclosure of personal data on the web
 

AFNOR may be required to disclose your personal data (first and last names, company name, contact details, position and responsibilities) for the purposes of:

  • distributing Strategic Policy Committee reports;
  • standardization programmes;
  • circulating attendance lists for Standardization Committee meetings;
  • disclosing the identity of chairmen of Technical Committees, Secretaries of Technical/Scientific Committees and working party leaders.

Data capture, notably for the purposes of commercial use, is rigorously prohibited and may constitute an infringement of the law by AFNOR in respect of its databases. Use of connection data
 

For security reasons or to estimate the number of visitors to its site, AFNOR records the following data:

  • date and time;
  • IP (Internet Protocol) address;
  • page(s) viewed.

These data are held for three (3) months. An IP address is indirect personal data. Under Articles 38, 39 and 40 of the French Data Protection Act, Loi Informatique et Libertés no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 as amended in August 2004, you have the right to access, opt-out, delete and amend your personal data. Electronic mail
 

Messages exchanged by e-mail or through chat rooms containing your electronic address are direct and indirect personal data.

The following are authorized:

 

the extraction and reuse of a non-substantial part of the database content, assessed on a qualitative or quantitative basis; however, this provision may not be interpreted as authorizing the repeated and systematic extraction or reuse of a qualitatively or quantitatively non-substantial part of the content of the databases.
In general, use of the databases in accordance with their intended purpose is authorized.
All other use not expressly authorized and any total or partial representation of this site by any means whatsoever is strictly prohibited without AFNOR’s prior written authorization and constitutes an infringement punishable under Articles L.355-2 et seq. of the Intellectual Property Code.

 

3. Confidentiality of messages

The messages you send to us over the Internet could be intercepted by third parties. Consequently, other than in secured areas, the confidentiality of these messages cannot be guaranteed and the indication of their origin may be false.
